Available on Tor’s onion network

To further improve the reachability of the Cardano mainnet, one of SPIDR’s relays is now also available on Tor’s onion network. You can use:

dewzb2r7babrkd2ayiqara5drp23zrshdbpn2fe5spxewtlh3yv2bsqd.onion:3001

To connect to it. For most users this will not be too interesting. Using Tor to connect to a regular relay over the internet should be secure enough for most users.

Mind you, currently cardano-node software does not support connecting over SOCKS5, so you would have to do make some changes to the source code for now.

Wrote an introduction on the Cardano forum

Wrote a short introduction about myself and the pool over at forum.cardano.org. You can read it here:

Third relay added

The SPIDR Stake Pool has is now at three relays. The new relay supports both IPv4 and IPv6. Meaning the SPIDR pool now thas two relays that support both IPv4 and IPv6!

IPv6 is the future, but adoption seems to be very far behind. IPv4 address space simply cannot handle the demand that is being put on the internet at this time.

Enabling IPv6 makes sure the pool is ready for the future and adds extra redundancy.

Setup cncli for pooltool.io integration

Discovered the existence of cncli today and integrated it into my Cardano Stake Pool setup. From now on you can see block height of the block-producing node on pooltools.io

This will ensure anyone that watches my pool can make sure the block-producing node is up to speed!

New relay

In order to provide more redundancy to the Stake Pool another relay was created. It is hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa!

Hopefully this will also help strengthen the Cardano network in the African continent!

Launched website

This weekend I decided to host a small WordPress based website detailing information about this stake pool and me, the operator.

The SPIDR Cardano Stake Pool is a no-nonsense stake pool, running on bare metal machines hosted by myself on a 500/500 fiber connection. I run only this pool and promise not to run more than one pool in the future. I am a member of the Single Pool Alliance.

If the SPIDR pool would attract delegators in the future, I plan on adding more redundancy by adding relays that are hosted elsewhere.

Goal

By running the SPIDR Cardano Stake Pool I hope to strengthen Cardano’s decentralization effort. If delegation rewards start to come in consistently, I will be adding more Tor nodes to strengthen the Tor network. Currently I’m running one Tor node, see details here.
